Request for exemptions Maastricht Academy of Music Bachelor of Music Classical Introduction Some incoming students have already completed a Bachelor of Music (or parts of it) before enrolling at the Maastricht Academy of Music. In this case, you can submit a request for exemptions for subjects you have already completed. Exemptions may also be granted based on work experience. If you wish to submit such a request, please follow the procedure below. Procedure To submit a request, complete the student exemption form (see below in this document) and add evidence. Any other way of applying for exemptions will not be accepted. You can apply for exemptions only once, so be sure to include all subjects you want to be exempted from. Send it to the Examination Board by e-mail: peter.steyvers@zuyd.nl If you need any help, please contact Josien Mennen (josien.mennen@zuyd.nl) All candidates are invited to take a practical and theoretical1 entrance exam. For the theoretical entrance exam, please bring documents/materials that show what you did in your previous studies, such as analyses, study books etc. The theory lecturers will assess your level in Prima Vista, Ear training, Analysis, Harmony, Analysis and Performance and Harmony and fundamentals of music. For an explanation of these subjects, please see the website: http://www.conservatoriummaastricht.nl/en/maastricht-academy-of-music/classicalmusic/bachelor-and-master.aspx. When you click on one of the subjects on this page (e.g. guitar), you can download the curriculum overviews and course descriptions. You will receive an overview of the exempted subjects together with your results form. Your timetable will be adjusted to fit in with your study path, and the exemptions will be registered in the study progress system. For other subjects, the Examination Board will consider your request, and/or ask other specialist assessors for advice. The Examination Board will inform you of its decision by email. Since this is a time-consuming procedure, it may take several weeks. 1 Exceptions can be made for students with a European Bachelor's or Master's degree in Music. 01-06-2015 Request for exemptions Bachelor of Music Classical Page 1 of 4 Student exemption form Personal details Last name: First name: Student number2: Date of birth: Address: E-mail: Phone number: Mobile phone number: Main subject: Main subject teacher of your choice: Overview of previous education Please describe your music education in chronological order in column 1 Programme Name of institute: Country: Name of programme: Level (e.g. Bachelor/Master/secondary education): Period Diploma?
