We used to offer free tuition for the first child and 50% for subsequent children to the rabbis but the synagogue did not pick up any of that cost and it was wreaking havoc with our budget. Rabbis and Cantor get free tuition; teachers on ECC staff get 30% off tuition except in the infant room where they get 20%. The rest of the synagogue staff do not get unless they negotiate with the Exec. Dir as part of their package. Our Rabbis and Cantors get free tuition as negotiated in their contracts, our teachers and other staff in the synagogue get nothing off their tuition. Part time teachers receive 25% off member rate and free registration. The Rabbi's children come for free [which the synagogue negotiates]. We have not given a discount to teachers or other staff members, yet. Our Rabbinical staff gets free tuition, our teachers get 50%. Our rabbis receive a free 5 ½ day tuition spot. Our staff receives a 5% discount for each day they work. So, a staff member works 5 days a week, she gets 25% and if she works 3 days, she will get a 15% discount. We have one spot which we divide between teachers with children. So, for example, this year we have 3 children of staff: each will get a 33.3% discount. Since we are a small preschool, we can't afford free tuition to all children of staff. When our rabbi had children in the preschool, she paid for them and was not part of this discount. In the future, it will probably be part of the rabbi's contract with the synagogue to negotiate child care funds. We give a 50% tuition break for any employee who works full time and adjust it incrementally depending on how much they work. The Director’s children and clergy members’ children attend for free.
