Aracely Mora Named Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences at
Santiago Canyon College
(Santa Ana)—Rancho Santiago Community College District announces the appointment of Aracely
Mora as dean of the humanities and social sciences division at Santiago Canyon College. In this farreaching role, which reports to the college’s vice president of academic affairs, Mora has overall
responsibility for the leadership and administration of all functions of the division. This includes
staffing, administration, academic programming, student enrollment and related records and reports.
Mora offers a wealth of experience in higher education, both as a member of faculty and
management. She worked on an interim capacity in her current position during the last year. Prior to
that she served as dean of exercise science, health, athletics at Santa Ana College, where she
administered all programs and services in the division. The athletic director at Irvine Valley College
for 10 years from 1991 to 2001, Mora also served as division chair of health sciences, physical
education, athletics and taught physical education and health. In the high school arena, Mora has been
employed as an assistant principal, activities director and athletic director.
Both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees were earned at California State University Long
Beach. She received an Ed.D. in institutional management from Pepperdine University. Mora has
numerous certifications to her credit, including Administrative Services Credential, Ryan Single
Subkect Teaching Credential, and Bilingual Certification. A true leader in her profession, Mora is
active in many organizations, including a stint as president of the State Community College
Organization of Physical Educators and the California Community College Athletic Directors’
Association. She is a frequent presenter at national, regional and state conferences.
