ENROLLMENT Policy Code: 4157 All students who are legally enrolled in the school district will be enrolled as full-time students and will be assigned a schedule or program of study that requires attendance for the school’s entire instructional day except as provided in sections 1 and 2 below. 1. Accommodation or intervention plans developed for individual students in accordance with federal or state law or local board policy may provide for enrollment on a partial day basis (less than the full instructional day) if required to meet the needs of the individual student. Such accommodation or intervention plans may be developed for any eligible student of any age or grade level; at the high school level, such plans may have an effect on the calculation of maximum potential in meeting graduation requirements. Any accommodation or intervention plan which provides for partial day enrollment must have the written consent of the student’s parents or guardian. 2. Beginning with the 2007-2008 school year, all high school students must be enrolled in a full schedule each semester except as provided for in Section 1 above. 3. A student who can verify enrollment and completion of a community college course can substitute community college course credit for a high school course, regardless of the time/place that course is taught. Any exceptions to this policy because of individual hardships require the approval of the principal. 4. Students who have previously been enrolled in grades 9-12 for four years and are returning for a fifth or sixth year in order to earn credits needed for graduation may enroll in a minimum of two courses provided the student needs only two courses for graduation. No student may enroll for fewer than two courses in any semester. 5. For purposes of this policy only, the terms “part-time”, “partial day”, and “less than fulltime” refer to any schedule or program of study that involves attendance for less than a school’s entire instructional day. For student accounting purposes in the student information management system, the definitions of “full-time student” and “visiting student” approved by the State Board of Education will apply.
