District Fifteen POLICY - 24 Eligible Candidates Election of International Director To be eligible for election by the District Delegate Body, candidates must be either:Immediate Past Governor Past Governor Repealed 2008 Currently installed Governor Governor to be installed during the District Conference at which election of International Director will take place. For those eligible members described above, eligibility for election shall be based on the member’s qualifying status on the first day of the International fiscal year, the first of June. Once established, eligibility for election as an International Director does not expire. Publishing the Slate The District Nominating Committee will determine all eligible candidates, and will inquire of these candidates in writing if they wish to be slated for election. Nominations will close with the Nominating Committee 30 days prior to the midyear Board Meeting. The Nominating Committee will submit the names to the District Board of Directors at their midyear Board meeting prior to the Conference in which they will hold election of the International Director. Once the slate has been confirmed it will be published sixty days prior to the Conference. Presenting the candidates at Conference The Nominating Committee will present the candidates to the District Conference delegates at the first business session of the conference at which time nominations of eligible candidates may also be taken from the floor. When the nominations are closed, the election may go forward. Election In the year that District Fifteen will have a representation on the International Board, the International Director will be elected by ballot at the Conference. Any member receiving a majority of all valid votes cast shall be the winner. In the event that there are more than two (2) candidates for the office, and no candidate receives a majority of all valid votes cast a subsequent ballot will be held in which the candidate with the least number of votes shall be eliminated from each of the succeeding ballots. Should there be only one candidate slated, a shoe of hands of majority of eligible voters may be taken. In the event that a District Conference is cancelled or it is deemed impossible to hold a Conference, balloting shall be by mail, in which event the Board of Directors shall prescribe the procedure.
