Internships are a valuable opportunity to use your classroom knowledge and gain new skills in a
work environment. An internship can teach you more about a job and determine if it is a good fit
for you and your career goals.
How do you find an internship? Know who you are and where you’re headed. Identify where
you’d like to work, and then get your resume and LinkedIn page up to par. You might want to
check out our Checklist to start yourself on the path to your dream internship.
Doing a Field Experience or Internship for credit this fall?
Follow these two steps:
1. Meet with your Faculty Advisor
2. Complete the Field Experience (Internship for Credit) contract on Bruin Careers. See the
instructions below or come and talk to us in the IDEA Center located on First Floor Stevens.

What is an internship?
"An internship is a form of experiential learning that integrates knowledge and theory learned in
the classroom with practical application and skills development in a professional setting.
Internships give students the opportunity to gain valuable applied experience and make
connections in professional fields they are considering for career paths; and give employers the
opportunity to guide and evaluate talent." - National Association of Colleges & Employers



You may be considering an internship abroad. Child Family Health International (CFHI)
provides more than 25 Global Health Education Programs in 7 countries. *Scholarships are
available.

