Students at Lansing Community College can begin to satisfy requirements for teacher certification at
Central Michigan University by following the curriculum guide on this flyer. This articulation agreement
(partnership) permits LCC students to transfer up to 64 credits toward their Bachelor of Science in Education
with Secondary Education emphasis. You are encouraged to speak with an LCC or CMU advisor and
visit the CMU campus to decide whether this program is right for you.
With CMU’s Provisional Admission Program, you may apply early to the Teacher Education Program after
the completion of at least 45 semester hours at LCC. In order to make sure that your application and
provisional admission can be processed before you transfer, the following steps must occur.
Checklist for Provisional Admission to CMU Teacher Education:

___ Meet Michigan Basic Skills Test Score Requirements (www.mttc.nesinc.com)
___ Identify Major(s) and/or Minor(s) for CMU
___ Completion of the following LCC courses: EDUC 220, WRIT or ENGL 122, SPCH 120 or 130,
MATH 112, and EDUC 201 or equivalent. (See the curriculum guide footnotes for special
grade requirements).
___ Maintain 2.7 overall Grade Point Average in all coursework taken
___ Have official transcript(s) sent to the Center for Student Services, College of Education and

A grade of 3.0 or better in WRIT 121; a grade of 2.0 or better in WRIT 122 or ENGL 122, SPCH 120 or 130, and MATH 112 (MATH 121 or higher may be substituted for
MATH 112).
A grade of 3.0 or better in EDUC 220.
A criminal background check is required prior to taking this course. Contact the LCC Office of Teacher Preparation for information at (517) 483-1010. Students may waive
EDUC 201 by completing 45 hours of pre-professional experience according to guidelines established by the CMU Department of Teacher Education and Professional
