ELYRIA HIGH SCHOOL 2015-2016 1st SEMESTER EXAM SCHEDULE
On December 16, 17, and 18 EHS will be operating on a special schedule due to semester exams. The schedule gives
students the advantage of having one hour and twenty minutes for each exam and having no more than three exams on any
one day. If weather would force the closing of schools on an exam day, the exam schedule will be postponed an additional
day The exam schedule for the three days is as follows:

Make-Up Exams

12:58 – 2:32
- - Grades 9-12 Lunch/Grades
- - Grades 9-12 Study Hall
If a student does not have an exam during a specific time block, he/she is to report to study hall in the dining hall. All
study halls will meet in the dining hall, and students will be required to sign-in for attendance purposes. Students will
follow the lunch schedule as noted even though the study halls will also be meeting in the dining hall. The dining hall will
have food available throughout the day during study halls.
All students are required to complete exams and there is no acceptable excuse for missing an exam other than illness
verified through the team office (parents must call the appropriate team office if their student is ill on exam days).
Excused absent students must accept responsibility for contacting and arranging with the appropriate teacher, a
time to make-up the exam during the make-up time block identified in the exam schedule or another agreeable
time based on the teacher's availability! Any student missing an exam will receive a failing grade for that exam.
Remember, the EHS grading policy states that in order to receive semester credit, two of the three grades possible in the
semester (two nine weeks and the semester exam), must be passing grades. Please note that the three day exam schedule is
part of the second nine weeks grading period, thus the exam schedule days are included within the EHS Attendance
Policy.
If parents feel that their son/daughter can better study at home for exams, EHS will permit students to attend school only
when they are scheduled for a specific exam. If the student remains in school during a non-exam time block, he/she will
be required to attend a supervised study hall in the dining hall. If students arrive to school after or during an exam
time block, they must enter through the dining hall entrance. With permission, students may enter late or leave early
ONLY during the scheduled 15 minute break times between exam time blocks.
It must be emphasized to students that permission to be dismissed from school during the school day allows the student to
study for exams at HOME and is not free time for students to loiter about the school, other schools, or visit the mall, etc.
The form must be completed, signed, and returned to the student's homeroom teacher by Monday, December 14, 2015
If you feel that your student would best be served by remaining in school please sign the release below.
