For future reference, please keep this list handy.
FUNDRAISING

Family Fun Day & Carnival – Volunteers help market the carnival, collect sponsorships, gather
donations from the community, pre-sell admission wristbands to students, bake goodies for the day of the
carnival, and staff the carnival with parent volunteers and teachers.

Gift Wrap & Candy Sales – Volunteers help compile orders, organize packages and verify funds.
Students sell candy and gift wrap to family and friends by completing order forms. Delivery of items is in
time for the holidays.

Children’s Holiday Store- Gifts (purchased wholesale) are sold to the students for their holiday needs.
Teachers will also shop at a designated time. Volunteers sell merchandise and gift wrap.
SCHOOL RELATIONS

Holiday Lunch- Plan and organize holiday lunch for the school’s office.

Teacher Appreciation Week- Plan and organize lunch and additional thank yous for our teachers.

Reading Nights- Coordinate hospitality for Dr. Rubin’s 3 special Reading Nights.

Secretarial Appreciation Events- Plan and organize holiday lunch for secretarial and administrative staff
members and additional thank yous for our secretarial and administrative staff members throughout the
year.
Historian

Event Photographer- Create visuals via photographs of events that take place at VABHOE and create a
“yearbook” at the end of the school year.

COMMUNITY RELATIONS

Community Partnerships- Work with organizations that we have partnered with to provide community
services to that organization (i.e. JAFCO).

Thanksgiving Baskets - Organize items to give to the needy in our community.

HOA Liaison- Serve as a liaison between VABHOE and local HOA. Meetings and be a point person for
communications/issues re: community HOA as they impact VABHOE and vice versa.
EDUCATION

Book Fair - This event happens twice a year and gives students an opportunity to purchase books
appropriate to their grade level. Volunteers help younger students select books and collect payments for
items sold.

Box Tops/ Labels for Education- Box Tops and Labels for Education are collected from VABHOE
students and tabulated.

Cultural Arts Day - This event showcases artists from the community who share their talents and
expertise with our students. Volunteers work on obtaining artist commitments, scheduling, booklet
preparation, hospitality and more.

Feeder Pattern - Attend Region Feeder Pattern meetings and report information to VABHOE and PTA.

Legislative Affairs- Follow and advise membership on major issues of educational concern during the
Florida Legislative Session and throughout the school year.

Principal’s Honor Roll and Awards - Honor and recognize students who achieve straight A-1-A’s on
their report cards at the end of each grading period. Volunteers help with hospitality, certificates and
goodie bags.

Teacher Grant Committee- Committee reviews and considers grant proposals submitted by teachers to
fund special classroom projects.

Study Groups – Parents Workshops - Organize guest speakers for two to three presentations at evening
PTA meetings.

Legislative Affairs- Keep up to date on proposed legislation and how it impacts us and report to PTA
Volunteer Coordinator

Clinic- Volunteers needed to administer TLC, Band- Aids, ice and hugs in VABHOE’s clinic.
Chairperson will maintain a schedule of volunteers to staff the clinic throughout the year.

Class Parent/ Level Leaders- Collect data to search for classroom parents. Identify class
parents and distribute lists to each class indicating the classroom parents(s) and their contact
information. Serve as a liaison between teachers and students. Coordinate volunteers to help
with class parties, field trips, and to assist VABHOE/MDPS.

United Way Campaign- VABHOE supports the community by donating to the Untied Way
Campaign. Room parents and volunteers needed to assist Mr. Babbit, the school site facilitator
of VABHOE’s United Way efforts, by helping with bake sales.


Vision and Hearing- Assist VABHOE/ MDPS by creating a group of volunteers to facilitate
screenings for all classes.

Heights and Weights- Assist VABHOE/ MDPS by creating a group of volunteers to facilitate

Kindergarten Graduation- Plan and coordinate the Kindergarten Graduation and
Fundraising. Designate a treasurer.

Fifth Grade Graduation Committee- Plan and coordinate the Fifth Grade Graduation,
Yearbook, and Party with Level 5 teachers. Designate a treasurer.
