Office of Multicultural Programs and Services

The Office of Multicultural Programs and Services (OMPS), a department in the Division of Campus Life at Emory University, seeks an experienced and innovative student affairs professional to fill the Assistant Director of Student Life position.

The Office of Multicultural Programs and Services Assistant Director’s responsibilities are as follows:

Assists in the development and implementation of OMPS department goals/objectives and strategic planning. Coordinates mentoring relationships and group activities to assist freshman and target student groups in adjusting to campus life, shares in the supervision of student interns, develops and implements diversity training and development programs for student leaders. Provides informal counseling on an on-going basis. Performs related responsibilities as required.

Develops leadership and diversity training for MORE (Multicultural Outreach and

Resources at Emory) Mentor Advisors and Mentors; plans and coordinates MORE activities/programs; updates MORE Program website; maintains required program records and documentation of services; develops workshops on diversity, identity, and student development; understands and applies student development theory; focuses on

Hispanic, Black, Asian and underrepresented student programming; oversees OMPS cosponsorships of student initiated programs that support our mission; develops and presents an annual assessment report of OMPS programs and/or services coordinates marketing and publicity of OMPS; functions as a liaison for diverse students with other areas of the University and collaborates with other departments.

The Assistant Director of Student Life reports to the Assistant Dean of Campus Life and

Director of the OMPS office and serves in a 12-month, full-time position with varied hours.

Interested candidates must have a master’s degree in social science or human relations with an emphasis in college student affairs and experience in diverse college student programming, marketing and development/fund raising skills; program assessment skills, as well as demonstrated dedication to student advocacy and success.
