Creighton University seeks both an Academic Director and a Resident Director for its innovative community-based study abroad program in the Dominican Republic, Encuentro Dominicano. Applicants for both positions should be fluently bilingual in Spanish and English and have experience with bi-cultural living in Latin America, international service projects, and/or academic study-abroad programs. Applicants should possess an appropriate academic degree in any humanities or social science discipline (Ph.D. strongly preferred; M.A./M.S. with college teaching experience accepted). Applicants should also have experience in budget administration and demonstrated ability to integrate the Ignatian and Catholic spiritual tradition as part of a reflective process for students in an ecumenical atmosphere. The Academic Director will report directly to Creighton’s Dean of Arts & Sciences and will work collaboratively with the Resident Director and the Executive Director of the CESI Center outside Santiago, which hosts the program. The Academic Director will be responsible for teaching/coordinating a sixcredit course that explores the sociology, history and economics of the Dominican Republic and involves community-based (service) learning from the perspective of faith and justice. The Resident Director, working in close collaboration with the Academic Director, will be responsible for the delivery of programs and services. M.A./M.S. in College Student Development, Counseling, Business, or a related field and Residence Life experience will be strongly preferred; B.A./B.S. required. The Resident Director will coordinate in-country student orientations, facilitate student retreats, develop weekend cultural programming opportunities, attract new students to the program, assist in the coordination of service sites, and uphold university policies and procedures. The Resident Director will report directly to Creighton’s Associate Director of Residence Life and will work collaboratively with the Academic Director and the Executive Director of the CESI Center outside Santiago, which hosts the program.
