Dean's Directive Number 2 / 2009 Guidelines for recruitment of candidates for doctoral studies at the MTF STU in the academic year 2009/10 Dean's Directive No. MTF STU. 2 / 2009 for the admission of candidates for doctoral studies at the MTF STU in the academic year 2009/10 In accordance with the Law on Higher Education and the amendment of certain laws {č.131 / 2002 Coll. (Section 54) together in accordance with the Directive 4/2004-N for determining the activity of the trade commission study for doctoral studies} the rector of the STU in Bratislava and the Dean of the Faculty of the STU in Trnava have issued a directive for the admission of applicants for graduate study in the academic year 2009/10. The Directive contains: A) The admission procedure B) accredited doctoral programs of study C) a schedule of the admission procedure D) The fee for providing recruitment A) The admission procedure 1.During the admission procedure the candidates for doctoral studies in daily or external form can sign in the topics of the dissertation work, written by the faculty for study programs with accreditation, (including accredited external institutions). There is a chosen supervisor for each of the listed topics. The candidates can apply for an application for one of the listed topics. 2. The precondition for applying for doctoral studies and obtaining a academic title is a master’s degree together with a completed application form and requested materials. 3. As part of the admission procedure for doctoral studies at the MTF STU there is an admissions test which is usually oral and its task is to verify the ability of candidate studies. 4. Entrance examination consists of two parts: • theoretical and professional debate on the chosen theme of PhD thesis, • finding the language skills of the candidate through the foreign language test. 5. Candidates are assigned to test panels according to the selected degree program. 6. For each degree program the Dean will appoint at least three test panels in accordance with the Rector's Directive No. STU. 4/2004-N. 7. The test assesses the conduct of the Commission entrance examination in closed session, and in particular classes: • theoretical and professional skills of candidates predisposition to scientific work and their overall skills levels, which will be proven via the debate on the chosen theme of PhD thesis, • Language test results. 8. The result of the evaluation committee is examining a proposal to adopt the proposal or candidate for failure on the chosen topic. 9. In the case of several candidates submitted for the same topic dissertation the Commission will establish the order of success by the outcome of an entrance test. In the case of a Commission proposal to adopt more candidates listed on one topic, the Commission will specify in the minutes indicating the topics of the thesis. 10. Test the Commission shall draw up the course and outcome of the written entrance test registration. 11. The Dean’s commission will make a decision of who will gain entrance out of the candidates who applied to the admission procedure. A minimum of five members will be chosen by the Dean of the faculty. . 12. The Admission via the Dean‘s Commission will only be based on the candidates who attended the reception tests. 13. The decision of the dean’s Commission Decision will be Published and announced to the candidates in written form. 14. Appointees will receive a decision on the receipt and the dissertation topic selected. 15. Candidates who received the decision of non acceptance for the doctoral studies may apply to have the decision reviewed by the Faculty Dean (No. 58, section.8) 16. The procedure specified in the 1st to 15th also applies to places of daily doctoral students who are in receipt of grant funds, the schedule of the admission procedure may be different.
