Each of these publications is provided upon request and available in various forms
online. From time to time, individual colleges and departments may produce printed and
Web-based recruitment publications (such as the brochure Hospitality, Recreation and
Resort Management) in support of particular programs[13] [14] [15]. These publications
are reviewed and their accuracy ensured by college deans and departmental
administrators.
At the undergraduate level, the Office of Admissions participates in a state-wide college
tour each academic year in which trained admissions personnel represent the University
to discuss the University in general and admissions in particular. Throughout the year,
these recruiters also visit public and private high schools throughout the state to meet
with prospective students who have expressed interest in UWF. Topics discussed at
these events include admission requirements, housing, financial aid, academic
programs, and attendance costs. Admissions Office staff members responsible for
student recruitment receive regular training on admissions policies and university
information. Each is provided copies of ACCRAO and NACAC professional practices
and ethical standards for use in their communications.
Additionally, Admissions representatives meet with prospective students and families in
their offices on a walk-in basis. The University also hosts five Open House Programs
during the admission cycle during which prospective and admitted students are
encouraged to explore the University. The half-day programs provide students and
parents an opportunity to learn about the University and its services and academic
programs [16].
Graduate level recruitment takes place through the individual colleges, schools, and
departments. Admissions representatives will meet with graduate students by
appointment or on a walk-in basis.
