Poland will host European Sport Climbing Championship 2015! Between 5th-9th of August 2015 Katowice will become an arena of struggle for the best climbing specialists who will compete in three varieties of sport climbing. European University Sports Association (EUSA) gave Polish University Sport Association rights to organize European Universities Sport Climbing Championship. It is a great honor for our country, especially that it will be the first climbing championship in EUSA’s history. Each country can be represented by a maximum of three teams from different Universities, two to six athletes each, consisting of students age 17 to 30. The tournament will be based on the 3 IFSC Sport Climbing Official Disciplines: Speed, Boulder and Lead. Sport climbing is an extremely spectacular discipline, gaining larger and larger group of fans year after year, as the number of people visiting artificial climbing walls or climbing e.g. in the KrakówCzęstochowa Upland proves. We hope that the championship arena prepared in the center of Katowice will attract not only fans of this discipline but also those for whom it will be the first contact with this activity - says the chairman of the organizing committee, Bogusław Oleksy. Polish University Sports Association Katowice Department, which is the organizer of the event, is planning to prepare a lot of attractions for fans. Both adults and children will be able to try their hand at Climbing Grand Prix for amateurs, see professionals, win valuable prizes in competitions or watch videos about sport climbing. Those who won’t be able to see the climbing championship live will be able to watch all championship events online.
