Summer 2006 Analysis Tomball College The Summer 2006 headcount decreased by 0.6 percent (27 students) and the enrollment decreased by 0.9 percent (64 students). The enrollment increased by 2 percent at the Tomball Campus and decreased by 4 percent at the Willow Chase Center. Enrollment from the zip codes 77377 and 77084 showed the greatest percentage of increase. Tomball ISD increased by 8%. Cy-Fair and Klein ISDs decreased by 4 percent and 3 percent in enrollment respectively. Student Demographics The Tomball College headcount decreased by 0.6 percent. Willow Chase Center decreased the headcount by 5.5 percent. The number of new students increased to 12.3 percent this year, compared with 10.8 percent last year. The number of credit hours is up from 32.9 in 2005 to 40.9 this summer. In addition, the average term credit hour is almost flat. New students this summer were older than the previous college average age of 20.7. In Summer 2006, the average age was 21.3. Minority enrollment increased this summer. The percentage of Anglo students decreased from 66 percent to 64 percent and the percentage of females is flat. Tomball College Divisions Business, Technology, and Social Science Division Their enrollment increased by 1.4 percent this year compared with last year. This summer, for every 10 classes offered, it made 7.7; whereas last summer, for every 10 classes offered, it made 7.9. Class size is up to 20 from 18.6. The subjects that increased the most were ECON and GEOG. Behavioral, Health and Natural Sciences Division The enrollment decreased by 2.8 percent compared to last year. This year, for every 10 classes offered, it made 7.9, similar to last year. Class size is down to 16.2% from 16.6%. The subject that decreased the most was SOCI. English, Humanities, and Mathematics Division This division decreased the enrollment by 1.7 percent compared to last year. This year, for every 10 classes offered, it made 8.6; whereas during last year, for every 10 classes offered, it made 7.9. Class size is down from 18.9% to 18.3%. The subjects that increased the most were English, Music, and Spanish. Major areas of variation The overall Tomball enrollment for Summer 2006 is down by 0.9 percent compared with Summer 2005. Evening classes enrollment decreased by 26 percent (26%). Distance Learning/ Flex Study classes is flat and Weekend enrollment increased Vocational enrollment is flat. Academic enrollment increased by 1%, and the vocational decreased by 7%.
