ASSOCIATE VICE PRESIDENT ENROLLMENT SERVICES Purpose The Associate Vice President for Enrollment Services position was established in 2004 to provide coordination of services related to student recruitment, enrollment and retention. The Associate Vice President provides leadership and supervision for the Offices of Admissions and Financial Aid. In addition, the Associate Vice President works with a variety of offices to develop the university enrollment management plan and to provide a variety of recruitment and retention programs. These offices include but are not limited to academic departments, Registrar, University Publications, Academic Advising, Athletics, Institutional Research, Educational Development Program, Office of Multicultural Affairs, Media Relations, University Advancement, and the SUNY Division of Enrollment Management. The Associate Vice President also coordinates the scholarship application and selection process for new students and some scholarship programs for returning students. The Associate Vice President is expected to lead campus efforts to manage enrollment and create outstanding recruitment, retention and financial aid programs at SUNY Fredonia. Description of Duties Provide leadership and direction in support of campus efforts to identify, recruit, select, register, retain and graduate an optimal group of students identified in the campus strategic enrollment plan. Chair the Campus Enrollment Management Committee and assist in the development of a campus strategic plan for enrollment, including campus and departmental enrollment targets. Assist the President, Cabinet and Academic Deans in developing an institution-wide awareness of and commitment to enrollment management. Supervise the Director of Admissions and Director of Financial Aid. Oversee the operation of the Admissions Processing Center. Oversee the withdrawal, readmission and reinstatement process. Review and process applications for a second baccalaureate degree. Work with the Office of Institutional Research and the Computer Center to provide appropriate financial aid documents and enrollment reports for the campus to utilize in strategic planning. Develop and coordinate faculty and staff development programs to enhance campus marketing and recruitment efforts. Chair the Campus Scholarship Committee and coordinate efforts to best utilize limited scholarship dollars to achieve campus goals for enrollment and retention. Serve on the Student Diversity Committee and assist in efforts to increase student diversity. Continue to improve enrollment related services, making optimal use of limited resources and staff. Work closely with University Publications and academic departments to oversee the development of enrollment related promotional material, including the SUNY Viewbook. Work with other offices on campus to develop various recruitment programs, including but not limited to: open house programs, multicultural days, and visitation programs for youth. Represent the Student Affairs Division in the absence of the Vice President. Serve as a member of various committees to support recruitment efforts. Provide monthly and annual reports. Participate in assessment efforts that include the evaluation of programs and services provided. Qualifications Master’s degree in Student Personnel or a related field required. Ten years experience working with admissions and financial aid in a university environment. Strong oral, written, administrative, management, leadership, and human relations skills, required. Performance Indicators The Associate Vice President for Enrollment Services is expected to maintain appropriate financial aid and admissions related statistics. Student participation levels and services would also be evaluated. Examples of performance measures would include: The number and types of programs offered each semester. The number of prospective students and parents attending such programs. The overall evaluation of the final enrollment statistics each year, including the diversity and strength of class, high school GPA, SAT scores, geographic diversity, etc. Student, faculty and staff evaluations of services and programs. The number of departments involved in enrollment planning activities. The quality of publications and programs. The quality of the scholarship review process and yield rates. The quality of promotional materials and the departmental websites. Campus performance on the SUNY Student Opinion Survey and other assessment tools. Evaluations of the Financial Aid and Admissions Offices. Related Contacts In addition to campus collaborations, the office has regular contact with the SUNY Enrollment Management Office, the SUNY Admissions Processing Center, high schools, community colleges and related offices. The Associate Vice President chairs the Campus Enrollment Management Committee and coordinates other initiatives designed to optimize campus enrollment, including the quality and diversity of each class. Reporting to the Vice President for Student Affairs, the Associate Vice President is expected to be an effective team member within the Division of Student Affairs.
