Parent Information Packet 4th Grade Fourth Grade, like every year thus far in their education will be a year filled with new and different EXPERIENCES, FRUSTRATIONS, and CHALLENGES. Our goal this year is to take each student and with THEIR cooperation advance them to a higher level of THINKING and to HELP them become a RESPONSIBLE adolescent. In order to accomplish this goal we need to provide each student with an ATMOSPHERE conducive to LEARNING. Therefore, DISCIPLINE PROCEDURES and HOMEWORK POLICIES have been established. Discipline: Procedures are made to keep students physically and emotionally safe and to provide an appropriate environment for learning. Therefore a discipline procedure is put in place to ensure that students are following rules and procedures on a daily basis. Consequences are as follows: 1. Verbal Warning 2. 10 minutes of recess 3. Loss of recess 4. Call/Note Home 5. Principal Homework/Assignment Books: Assignments are used as a reinforcement tool. Therefore HOMEWORK must be completed on time for students to derive its benefits. Close communication between HOME and SCHOOL is very important for the success of your child’s education. Therefore, the Assignment Book MUST be used DAILY! We feel communication is a number one priority for a smooth and successful school year. Therefore, we are asking that your child’s planner be signed daily by a parent or guardian. Your signature does mean that your child has completed all assignments written in their planner. *Late grades will be issued when assignments are not turned in on time or if they are NOT completed. Work that is turned in late will be given a letter grade lower if it is made up the very next day.
