MatchBridge, a program of the United Way of the Bay Area (UWBA), provides work-based learning opportunities such as jobs and internships to youth 16-24 in San Francisco to reinforce their educational attainment. MatchBridge partners with community organizations and schools to ensure young people are work ready; and then connect them to opportunities at a variety of employers in San Francisco. Position: The Job Placement Associate (JPA) will work with placing youth through the SF Summer Jobs+ program over the summer in the City of San Francisco. This is a temporary position reporting to the MatchBridge Director. The JPA is a full-time, 37.5 hour per week position for a maximum of five months. The JPA will work both on-site in the San Francisco office and offsite to attend, facilitate or support events at partner locations in the community. Responsibilities: Program Support Works in coordination with the MatchBridge team to form matches between job-ready youth and work-based employment opportunities with employers Uses an applicant tracking system to connect youth to jobs Refers youth to employers, set up interviews, and provide follow-up on referrals Follow-up on recruitment event interviews/referrals Works with partner CBOs to screen youth and create youth profiles in our tracking system Help meet goals for placements as part of citywide summer jobs program Back-end administration of applicant tracking system Other tasks and projects as assigned by Director to support MatchBridge staff Employer Engagement Cold-calling employers regarding potential job leads for youth participating in SF Summer Jobs+ i.e. delivering in-person collateral to potential employers, establishing and maintaining relationships with businesses Online research to compile relevant employment, job and industry trends Phone and e-mail follow-up with employers regarding applications, interviews and hiring process for youth referred to employers Qualifications: The ideal candidate will possess the following experience, knowledge and skills: Bachelor's degree in a related field (examples: public policy, economic development, community organizing or urban planning, social work, public administration, or related social science) At least 18 months experience working with youth, preferably experience providing employment services to transitional-aged youth 16-24 who have barriers to employment such as at-risk behaviors, disabilities or system involvement Background, skills and interest in business development, marketing, sales and account management preferred Passion for helping youth, an interest in non-profit field, and/or workforce development. Access to a car, California Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record are conditions of initial and continued employment Flexibility and mobility to travel to off-site locations within or outside San Francisco as needed. Technology skills - Excellent word processing skills, including strong knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook. Must develop proficiency in new software systems and tools. Experience using Salesforce and online job application systems preferred. 5. Interpersonal/Teamwork Skills – Must have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively and diplomatically with a wide range of people inside and outside the organization. Maintains a positive attitude and good working relationship with others at all times. Works well with colleagues and grantees across many diverse cultures and backgrounds. 6.
