And Whereas a public park utilizing sustainable native landscaping would not only solve today’s stakeholder concerns regarding airport-related air pollution and safety, but would offer very much needed open space to stakeholders from Los Angeles and Santa Monica. Therefore, be it resolved that the Palms Neighborhood Council supports the “Airport2Park" recommendation to redevelop SMO as a public park in the event of airport closure and urges the City of Santa Monica and the City of Los Angeles, the County of Los Angeles, California State and Federal legislatures, as well as all appropriate Federal agencies and administrations to work toward this end.
