FRIENDS OF RIPLEY MEETING WEDNESDAY 9TH SEPTEMBER 2015 PRESENT: Lesley, Jo, Ange, Lucia, John, Joe, Jacob APOLOGIES Karen, Ann Casson SKY HAWK READING BENCH – We had a walk around the school grounds looking for an ideal spot to place the bench. Two possibilities are opposite the main building on the top field where the benches are or in the quiet area next to the all-weather pitch. CURRICULUM EVENING – Thursday 8th October from 6.30pm. This is an opportunity for parents/guardians of the new year 7 children to come along to the school to meet their child’s form teacher to discuss the curriculum and watch the First Day at School DVD. Copies of this will be available to order. Refreshments will be available. The Giving Machine will again be promoted as a free and easy way for parents to donate money to the school by ordering goods online through the Giving Machine website. RAFFLE TICKETS - Lesley thanked Jo and her children and Jacob for helping to envelope all tickets. BARBECUE - Lesley has purchased 4 stainless steel BBQ tops for £370. These will be much easier to clean. BONFIRE 6TH NOVEMBER - Tickets £3.50. The bonfire lighting time will be put on the tickets this year. Burgers - £2.50 Jacket potatoes £2. YEAR 7 FIRST DAY VIDEO – Andrew Towers editing video at the moment. All went well. REQUEST Mrs Pearson has requested 3 sets of 4 face masks for the hockey team. Total - £419.85. Request granted. Mark Bush has asked for money for spare parts for the gazebos. Request granted. ANY OTHER BUSINESS Minibus – Ange and Karen asked if there had ever been any thought on leasing a minibus instead of buying one. Lesley to speak to Mark Bush. Friends’ logo – It is the 50th Anniversary of the Friends in 2016. Ange and Karen wondered if we should run a competition to design a new logo. Charge £1 entry with prizes possibly sponsored by WH Smith or Rymans. Pampered Chef evening – Suzanne Robinson, a Pampered Chef consultant will meet with Lesley to chat about the format for the evening. New Friends leaflet – In the summer Karen and Ange put together a couple of different options for a leaflet to hand out at the curriculum evening. They were brought along to the meeting. The short version was the one that was decided upon. Ange and Karen to modify and bring to school to print off.
