Postdoctoral fellowship
One position for a postdoctoral fellow is available at the Laboratory of Molecular Genetics at
the Hellenic Pasteur Institute, Athens, Greece to help develop immunotherapies for the
treatment of autoimmune pathologies such as multiple sclerosis. The position is funded
through a 3-year ESPA 2007-2013 Synergasia project entitled “Pre-clinical and toxicology
evaluation of immunodominant myelin peptides/mimetics conjugated with mannan towards
clinical phase I-II studies: A potential therapeutic vaccine drug in the treatment of multiple
sclerosis (MS)”, with principal investigator Lesley Probert, PhD. Candidates should have a
PhD in biology, biochemistry or a related field of life sciences and a strong background in
immunology and molecular biology. Experience with techniques in immunology, with
inducible and spontaneous animal models of immunity/autoimmunity, the analysis of
immune responses, culturing and analysis of immune cells and in animal handling are
required. Experience in molecular biology, histopathology, immunocytochemistry and FACS
analysis is preferred and expertise in the study of dendritic cells and antigen-presentation to
T lymphocytes is valuable. A successful candidate is expected to work collaboratively with
other experimenters involved in this project. A good knowledge of the English language and
