Donor Appreciation Reception and “Proof of the Pudding” Debate

A highlight of this year’s Donor Appreciation event will be the “Proof of the Pudding”
Debate, featuring Drs. Marty Grabois and Steven Stanos, with Dr. George Kevorkian
serving as moderator. Topic will be, “Opioid Use in Rehabilitation and Palliative Care.”
Special recognition will also be given to Foundation donors and supporters for the year,
and the 2013 Rehabilitation Champion Award recipient, Mr. Victor Calise, will be
introduced. An invitation to the Donor Appreciation Reception was sent to all 2012-13
Foundation Donors; if you have not received one, please stop by the Foundation booth
#524-26 to contribute today.
Presentation of FPM&R Awards and Grants

The recipient of the PASSOR Legacy Award and Lectureship, Joel M. Press, MD, will
present “Looking Back on My First 25 Years: What I Need to Do Better for the Next 25.”
The recipient of the 2012 Scott F. Nadler PASSOR Musculoskeletal Research Grant, Dr.
Neil Segal, will present the results of his study, “Enhancing Women’s Health Through
Assessing Means of Attenuating Arch Collapse with Pregnancy,” followed by critique
and discussion.

The 2013 Foundation for PM&R Research Grant Award winners and recipient of the
American Rehabilitation Champion will be announced at this time.

FRIENDS OF THE FOUNDATION SILENT BOOK AUCTION

Foundation booth #524-26, Convention Center
The Friends of the Foundation are holding a silent auction of rare, signed and firstedition books related to rehabilitation. Over two dozen books will be on display and
available for bidding in the Foundation for PM&R booth beginning Thursday, October
3rd at the Exhibit Hall Welcome Reception, and bidding will close at 2:30 pm on Friday,
October, 4th. Highest bidders can pick up their books during exhibit hall hours on
Saturday, October 5th from 9:00 am – 2:30 p.m.
Rehab 5K Run/Walk & Roll
Saturday, October 5, 7:00 am
Lower Convention Center
This is an annual fundraising event to benefit physiatric research. Registration will be
available onsite in the Foundation booth (#524-26 in the Exhibit Hall) on Thursday
evening from 5:15 pm-7:15 pm, and Friday from 9 am-3 pm. Participants who
preregistered can pick up their race packets at the Foundation booth at those times.
Please meet at 6:45 am on Saturday morning at the pineapple fountain outside the
ballroom at the Convention Center.

Ongoing throughout the Assembly (Thursday, 5:15 pm–7:15 pm; Friday, 9 am–3 pm;
Saturday, 9 am–2:30 pm)
The Foundation information and fundraising booth will be located in the Exhibit Hall.
Stop by to meet members of our Board of Directors, bid on the Silent Book Auction, and
check our Donor Wall to view the names of our many supporters. Attendees may also
register for the Rehab 5k event at the booth, and preregistered participants can pick up
their race packets.
