ATs can’t do educational supervisions – this can only be done by trainers. Funding forms have been circulated – to be sent to Sue Bocock at the Deanery. Where a practice only has ATs – the supervising trainer/ training practice will do the supervisions or the practice where they are for ST3. - Changes to the VTS scheme – a psychiatry post in ST1 and all ST1 posts moved to 3 month posts from August 2010. An additional medicine post in ST2. Case Based Discussions – how to do it well - Sarah Griffith led a discussion on Case Based Discussions. An RCGP demonstration video of a CBD was shown and discussed. Support material was also distributed. Some attendees had never done CBDs, some had done a few – others had done many. There was some disquiet about the final part of the CBD in the video that involved the feedback which was short and not facilitative or educational. A discussion took place about whether it was appropriate or not to mix the formative educational discussion with the marking. Some trainers felt comfortable about doing it that way for practical reasons, and had not run into difficulty. Future Trainers Workshops and topics Thursday 8th July 2010 2pm – 5pm BMI.
