Mr. Piper’s Classroom Rules and Regulations Classroom Expectations: 1. Be on time. School tardy policy enforced. 2. Bring all necessary materials to class. (Books, paper, pens, pencils, etc) 3. NO colored or carbonated beverages in class. Water okay. 4. Do not bring any non-essential items to class. (Headphones, cell phones, i-pods, etc) 5. Do not bring hats or caps to class. No hoodies worn in class. 6. Dress to school dress standards. 7. Be respectful and courteous to others. 8. Do not make fun of other students or make light of their misfortune. 9. Be respectful to Mr. Piper. Punishments: With each rule violation a tally mark will be placed in the roll book by Mr. Piper. When a student receives his /her third tally (/////) in one class period, it will result in a referral to the office. He /She will then need to meet with Mr. Piper, the school administration, and parents/guardian to make sure that this does not happen again. Absences/Tardies: School policy enforced. A tardy is also a tally. Being tardy three times will equal an absence. After three tardies information about the tardies will be sent home. Fourth tardy will result in a referral. Nine absences result in loss of credit. Absent Work: Students have one extra day for each day of excused absence to turn in completed work for full credit. It is the student’s responsibility to get missed assignments. The previous week’s assignments will be posted on the chalk board. Missed tests need to be rescheduled with Mr. Piper. Grading/Assignments: In order to figure out the overall grade here is what the grades are based upon: End of Course Assessment/Nine Week Tests---------------30% Chapter /Unit Tests -------------------------------------------- 40% Projects ---------------------------------------------------------- 20% Homework----------------------------------------------------------5% Daily Work in Class/ Quizzes------------------------------------5% For a total of-----------------100% Final Grading Scale: A = 93%-100% C+ = 77%-79% F = 59% or less A- = 90%-92% C = 73%-76% B+= 87%-89% C- = 70%-72% B = 83%-86% D+ = 67%-69% B- = 80%-82% D = 63%-66% D- = 60%-62% Classroom Officers: Each nine weeks classes will elect students to assist in the management and operation of the educational process. These offices are extremely important components of the learning experience and should be held in the highest esteem by the class members. Traffic Cop: The direction cop is responsible for determining which direction assignments are to be exchanged for correction by fellow students. They are also in charge of leading the class out of the classroom on fire drills or assemblies. Tally Master: The tally master keeps track of “tallies” issued by Mr. Piper during the class period. At the end of the period the tally master reads the names and number of tallies earned by each student so they may understand the consequences of their actions. C.D.S. The collection and distribution service is to to handout any new assignments to the class, any information to the class, and the homework, test, etc. that are corrected assignments back from Mr. Piper. Can Man: The Can Man watches over the pencils that the students are allowed to borrow during the class period, and he/she makes sure that they are placed back into the can before they leave.
