Surgical Health Outcomes & Research Enterprise (SHORE)
The URMC Surgical Health Outcomes & Research Enterprise (SHORE) was established in
2011 under the umbrella of the Clinical and Translational Science Institute (UR-CTSI), as a
multidisciplinary center designed to develop new and enhance existing research efforts through
one integrated, cross-disciplinary program. As a part of URMC, SHORE helps achieve Medicine
of the Highest Order through the integration of existing institutional and intellectual resources to
create surgical outcomes research continuum and sustainability as it translates to innovative
research, excellence in training and high quality clinical care within both the Department of
Surgery and across all disciplines of the University of Rochester Medical Center. This Enterprise
aims to identify the most effective ways to organize, manage, finance, and deliver high quality
care, while reducing medical errors, controlling costs, and improving patient safety and
experience, all of that achieved through institutional, regional and national collaborations among
clinical and translational researchers, public health and policy organizations, community
partners, payers, patient advocacy groups and other stakeholders. SHORE faculty and staff
