The American Society of Breast Surgeons
The American Society of Breast Surgeons is the primary leadership organization for
general surgeons who treat patients with breast disease, and is committed to continually
improving the practice of breast surgery by serving as an advocate for surgeons who
seek excellence in the care of breast patients. This mission is accomplished by providing
a forum for the exchange of ideas and by promoting education, research, and the
development of advanced surgical techniques
Founded in 1995. the Society now has more than 3,000 members throughout the United
States and in 35 countries around the world. Active membership is open to surgeons
with a special interest in breast disease.
The Society’s Annual Meeting is the only medical meeting dedicated exclusively to the
latest issues affecting surgeons who treat breast disease, from diagnosis and staging to
treatment planning and ongoing management.
The American Society of Breast Surgeons hosts this meeting to provide the surgical
community with a forum to discuss and present the newest techniques in imaging,
biopsy, and surgery, intended to improve the quality of care for the more than one million
patients who undergo breast surgery annually in the U.S. The meeting sets the agenda
for the year ahead with the most advanced tools and techniques to achieve the best
possible breast cancer outcomes.
Each year, the meeting includes interactive workshops and demonstrations of new
surgical approaches, creating a opportunity for leading breast cancer care experts to
exchange, debate and discuss the latest trends and advancements affecting patients
and practices. The sessions and presentations at the meeting will inform attendees on
the latest advances in diagnostics, surgical techniques, screening, genomics, radiation
and clinical research. The industry’s leading companies will participate in commercial
exhibits showcasing the latest technology and newest procedures.
