St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton (SJHH) seeks a Breast Imaging/Cross-Sectional
Radiologist to join our team of 16 radiologists. The successful candidate will enhance our
Breast-Imaging Program and support our multi-disciplinary Breast Health Assessment Team.
The successful candidate will also participate in a multi-disciplinary team environment and
contribute strongly to the academic program, which includes resident and clinical fellow
education and research.
Interested candidates should have completed a dedicated breast-imaging fellowship and be
proficient in performing image-guided biopsies, localizations and MRI-guided biopsies. The
candidate should also be strong in other areas of general cross-sectional imaging and
participate in an acute on-call roster covering all modalities.
Our breast imaging program, accredited by the Canadian Association of Radiology, currently
supports the Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP) at two campuses of St. Joseph’s
Healthcare Hamilton – (Charlton Campus & King Campus – Stoney Creek) and provides
screening and diagnostic mammography, ultrasound, breast intervention and breast MRI
including MRI-guided biopsies. St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton is an OBSP High-Risk
Screening Centre for Breast Cancer.
Our combined Breast Imaging program includes four full-field digital mammography units,
breast ultrasound facilities at both sites, a digital-prone table biopsy unit, and an additional
stereotactic mammography biopsy unit. Breast MRI is performed on both 1.5T and 3T MRI.
More than 14,000 breast imaging studies and approximately 700 interventional breast
procedures are performed each year. There are very close clinical and research collaborations
with the Department of Surgery. Research facilities at SJHH include the Imaging Research
Centre with a dedicated 3T research magnet and CT-PET. There is strong technical support
from the medical physics department and there are opportunities to collaborate on research
with various associated departments of McMaster University.
St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton is a multi-site, acute-care 740-bed teaching hospital in
Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, affiliated with McMaster University, Faculty of Health Sciences. In
addition to having a strong clinical breast program, St. Joseph’s Healthcare is the regional
referral centre for Thoracic Surgery, Respirology, Head and Neck Surgery, Nephrology and
Renal Transplantation, Urology and Bariatric Surgery. As well, there is a strong general
surgery program.

Successful candidates must be eligible for Ontario Licensure, hold a Royal College
Certification in Diagnostic Imaging or equivalent, have successfully completed a dedicated
breast imaging fellowship, possess strong academic interest and qualify for a faculty
