MRI OF THE LEFT FOOT
HISTORY: Neuroma, dislocation, plantar plate tear, pain.
TECHNIQUE: Multiplanar multisequential MR images were obtained.
COMPARISON: There are no prior studies for comparison.
FINDINGS: There is no diffuse marrow edema, fracture or dislocation. No
Freiberg infraction. Alignment at Lisfranc joint is maintained. Lisfranc ligament is
intact. There are degenerative changes at multiple Lisfranc joint articulations.
There is also degenerative change of the first MTP joint. There is also hallux
valgus. The medial sesamoid of the first MTP joint is bipartite. There is a chronic
partial tear of the plantar plate of the distal attachment of the second MPJ. There
is approximately 3 mm region of perineural fibrosis surrounding the plantar digital
nerve in the second webspace as well as minimal perineural fibrosis surrounding
the plantar digital nerve in the third webspace. There is no intermetatarsal
bursitis. There is no MTP joint effusion. The intrinsic muscles of the foot are
normal. The flexor and extensor tendons are intact. The visualized portion of the
plantar fascia is unremarkable.
IMPRESSION:
1. 3 mm region of perineural fibrosis surrounding the plantar digital nerve in
the second webspace as well as minimal perineural fibrosis surrounding
the plantar digital nerve in the third webspace.
2. Chronic partial tear of the distal attachment of the second MPJ plantar
plate.
3. First MTP joint degenerative change. There is also hallux valgus, and the
medial sesamoid of the first MTP joint is bipartite.
4. Degenerative arthritis of multiple Lisfranc joint articulations. Alignment at
Lisfranc joint is maintained. Lisfranc ligament is intact.
