I can’t believe it is term 4 already. The year has gone by so quickly.
The children have been working hard and continue to make good
progress. Term 3 was very busy. The children participated in our Mary
Queen of Scots “Big Task” with enthusiasm and enjoyed expressing
their own views and opinions, on aspects of her life, in discussion and
debate. They are really looking forward to showing you what they have
learned when they perform their play about Mary’s life. Thank you for
your support at parents evening last term. It was good to catch up and
chat about your children and their learning achievements, so far.
Mrs Martin
The children have spelling on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.
On Monday and Tuesday they will choose from a range of
strategies to help them learn to spell in an active and fun way.
For example: Rainbow Words, Code Words, Backwards,
Alphabetical Order, Word Search, Ransom Note etc. These
strategies have been explained to the children. Your child may be
doing S.O.S. spelling and will be able to demonstrate this for you.
On Thursday the children should use the Ask and Spell Strategy.
This means someone at home asks them to spell the words and
ticks them if they can spell them correctly. On Friday the children
will test each other on their own personal spelling words learned
for that week.
The children will also be given maths work on a Tuesday. This
will consolidate and reinforce new concepts and strategies taught
in class. The children will, also be given set reading tasks to do
each week. All homework should be handed in on a Friday
and signed by a parent or guardian.
Thank you!
Personal Research or topic work may be given from time to time
