Goldsmiths Teachers Centre Newsletter Issue 8 March 2013 Introduction What is Continuing Professional Development (CPD)? Good CPD challenges teachers to reflect on and analyse their practice, it helps individuals to develop their knowledge and understanding to deliver exciting and interesting lessons for children. It’s more than a one off session, it's not about "tips for teachers", but rather sustained activity, with a specific focus that enables teachers to develop in the classroom. This type of activity usually attracts more formal qualifications. Further qualifications for teachers can range from short course certification, to masters units or doctorate study. A strong culture of CPD in your school has the potential to retain newly qualified teachers, enthuse experienced teachers and deepen understanding. We have lots of opportunities to enable individuals to further their learning. Maybe our MA School-based Education or PhD in Art Practice and Learning catches your eye? If you would like to find out more about any of our programmes or events, please get in touch.
