Meet Notes:
An Athlete CANNOT participate in both VARITY and JV DIVISIONS







Wednesday– the top 8 qualifiers will be announced from each preliminary event.
All prelim event results will be posted by the concession stand.
All shots and discus will be weighed, marked, and pooled for competition. Any implement
that does not meet weight specifications cannot be used in the throwing events including
warm-up.
All vaulters must weigh-in and must have their poles verified for competition. Any pole that
is not verified will not be allowed for use including warm-up.
Coaches’ boxes / areas for field events are designated (map on jsrelays.org)
Athletes are not allowed to start warm-up until the official is present – officials should be at
the field event 45 minutes before the start of the event (if there are flights, general warm up
for everyone will cease after 30 minutes to allow Flight 1 the final 15 minutes of preparation.
The 2nd flight will be given 15 minutes before their competition begins. Five minutes of
warm-up after final 8 are determined.
Pole Vault--everyone warms up at beginning. An athlete coming in after 3 consecutive passed
heights is allowed 2 minutes for run-through.
Opening Heights:




Pole Vault – JVG 5’ 6’’ – VG 7’ – JVB 8’ 0” – VB 9’6”
High Jump – JVG 4’4” – VG 4’6” – JVB 5’4” – VB 5’6”
All attempts in other field events will be measured
Shot & Discus Sectors will be 34.92 degrees

Seeding and lane assignments



Serpentine seeding & random lanes in all prelims and relays,
Finals – (except for relays, athletes will be seeded accordingly)
Heat winners will get either lanes 4, 5, 3 based on time. Remainder of qualifiers will be
seeded in lanes according to their times from the prelims.
Distance Races


800—Slow and fast heats; seeded by times submitted. 12 or fewer athletes—1 heat with
slowest times paired in lanes 1, 2, 7 & 8.
1600 & 3200 will be one heat (Alleys if we have over 18 athletes)
Race Entries



All entries are will be made online at www.directathletics.com Look for “District 9-5A
Championships.” Division 1 is VARSITY; Division 2 is JV. Entries close on Monday, April
7th at 8:00PM.
Tuesday morning you will be e-mailed heat sheets for lane assignments in all races.
After entry cutoff, SCRATCHES ONLY, NO ADDS– Send Scratches to
drobinson@jesuitcp.org No race will be reheated unless there is only one athlete or we can
combine athletes to eliminate a heat.
