Swamp Rat Run – June 20th, 2015.
Every June there is a running event at Oneida Shores Park called the SWAMP RAT RUN. This
year’s race is on June 20th, and race distances on this day consist of a 10K race, a 5K race, and a
1-mile run. It is a major fundraiser for the CNS Cross Country program, and it is a wonderful
opportunity for school kids to participate in a fun-filled fitness event. This year children from all
of the elementary schools in the district will be running in the 1-Mile Fun Run for Students.
RACE TIME: 8:30AM for girls, 8:50AM for boys. There is a competition to see which school
can enter the most runners, and Cicero Elementary will not be beat!! The course starts and ends
at Oneida Shores Park in Brewerton, and after the race each student runner will receive a goodie
bag filled with great stuff! Our goal this year is 250 runners!!
Important: This year we will be having daily drawings for fun items over the morning
announcements for all boys and girls who hand in their race form with payment. The drawings
start on Monday, June 1st, and you can’t win if you don’t enter! Parents, brothers and sisters
can enter also, and their forms count toward the Cicero El. total.
Everyone who enters the race will receive a very nice Swamp Rat T- shirt that they will be able
to wear to school the day before the race. (Remember: Walking is OK too.) A ribbon will be
awarded to all finishers.
There is a $10.00 entry fee, and I will take care of delivering the forms and picking up the race
T-shirts and bib numbers. Be sure to select your T-shirt size on the entry form. (Youth Large,
Adult S, M, L, and XL), and fill in your room number. As always, parents can run with the
children, but will not receive a T-shirt unless an entry form is filled out with the fee attached.
Additional forms are available on the school’s website. Deadline for race forms is June 9th.
I hope everyone will be able to join us on this day. Remember: You do not have to be in the Runner’s
Club to enter. It is open to anyone who wants to get out and get some great exercise! Remember:
8:30am on June 13th at Oneida Shores Park.

I know that running a road race is a potentially hazardous activity. I agree I should not enter and run unless I am medically able and
properly trained. I agree to abide by any decision of a race official relative to my ability to safely complete the run. I assume all risks associated with
running in this event, but not limited to, falls, contact with other participants, the effects of the weather – including high heat or humidity, traffic and
conditions of the road, all such risks being known and appreciated to me. Having read the waiver and knowing these facts and in consideration of you
accepting my entry, I for myself and anyone entitled to act on my behalf, waive and release the Syracuse Chargers Track Club, Inc., the Road Runners
Club of America, Onondaga County Parks Department, North Syracuse School District, Hess Express, and other sponsors, organizers or successors
from all claims or liabilities of any kind arising out of my participation in this event.
