Rainbow Judo Club Reg. Club No. 6009 Rainbow Leisure Centre Parkway Centre Coulby Newham Middlesbrough TS8 0TJ Welcome to the Junior section of the Rainbow Judo Club. We meet at the Rainbow Leisure Centre on Wednesday evenings. Judo is an Olympic sport and is practised in almost every country in the world. It was developed from the art of Jujitsu by a man called Jigoro Kano. Judo will help to develop physical strength, stamina, fitness, self-discipline and confidence. Hygiene Nails should be short and clean. Long hair should be tied back with an elastic bobble. No jewellery to be worn. Girls should wear a white t–shirt under their judo jacket. Feet should be clean; verrucas and athlete’s foot covered by socks. No shoes should be worn on the mat. Suits I have a number of jackets and belts, which pupils can borrow for a short period while they try the sport. They will then, hopefully, purchase their own suit from me at a competitive price. This will free up the club’s jackets for new pupils. Licences The BJA requires all members to have a licence after a four-week trial period. It gives your child a basic insurance and allows them to grade through the Junior grading system. See the British Judo Association’s website on http://www.britishjudo.org.uk/ or Club Coach, Eric for a licence form. Gradings I will run gradings from time to time to grade your child. You will be informed when your child is eligible for a particular grading session. The Rainbow Judo Club will strive to develop children at all levels of Judo, whether they want to grade, take part in competitions, aim to become the next Olympic champion or wish to participate purely for social and enjoyment purposes. Registration Please complete your child’s attached form and hand it back to Club Coach, Eric, so we can keep an up to date record of members. Contact Feel free to contact myself, Eric Salway, BJA Level 2 Club Coach: 07734773449 01642 316634 eric.salway@tinyonline.co.uk If any parent wishes to try Judo, our Senior class follows the Junior session on Wednesday evenings at 7.15 – 8.45 p.m. Eric Salway
