Dear Parents and/or Guardians, We are delighted that you want your child to participate in the 2014 Little Mr. and Miss Cherry Blossom Pageant. We are looking forward to a great event and hope it will prove to be a positive and memorable experience for you and your son or daughter. Please read this letter carefully and in its entirety, and hopefully most of your questions will be answered within. If you need further assistance please contact Jan Thiese at (478) 207-0021 or janicemariemaconga@cox.net The pageant will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at a location to be determined in Macon. Contestants must be boys and girls ages 4 (must have turned 4 by pageant date) to 6 years of age. There is only one age category. All participants must attend a 6:00 p.m. rehearsal at a location to be determined in Macon on Friday, November 1, 2013. This rehearsal should last no more than 2 hours. Casual clothes may be worn to rehearsal. If at all possible, please do not bring children who are not participating in the pageant to the rehearsal. During the pageant, contestants will walk across the stage and “model” for the judges and the audience. The Emcee will have a brief chat with each contestant based on the information you provided on your child’s application. There is no talent competition. Please do not coach or drill your child on his/her answers, as we do not compare the bio sheet with your child’s answers the day of the pageant. As we all know, children change their minds daily! Contestants should arrive dressed and ready for the pageant between 10:00 and 10:30 a.m. Please do not arrive before 10:00 a.m. We will have plenty of staff available to assist you, and there will be activities and plenty of supervision in the staging area while the children are waiting to go on stage. All parents should depart the staging area no later than 10:45 a.m. Parents must agree to accept the judges’ decision and understand that the ballots are confidential and cannot be viewed by contestants or their family members. Parents and family members are asked to refrain from conversing with judges. ATTIRE: Girls are to wear a Sunday-type dress with the hem being no more than 4 inches below the knee. Please no long, formal dresses. If at all possible, we would like the dresses to be any shade of pink or white with pink accents. Makeup, if any, should be limited to blush and lip gloss. Hair should look natural. Boys may wear navy, khaki, or black pants with a white or pink shirt (shirt should have a collar). Sport coats are encouraged but please do not purchase one just for the pageant. Ties are optional. Please, no tuxedos. The Little Mr. and Little Miss Cherry Blossom will each receive a trophy, sash, and crown. All participants will receive a small trophy. Each contestant will receive 2 complimentary tickets to be distributed at the dress rehearsal. Tickets to the pageant are $10.00 and may be purchased at the event beginning at 10:00 a.m. A prize will be given to the contestant who sells the most tickets in advance of the Pageant. To be considered for he prize tickets must be paid for and picked up at the Dress Rehearsal. APPLICATIONS must be turned in to the Cherry Blossom Office no later than Noon on Friday, October11th. The Little Mr. and Miss Cherry Blossom Pageant is limited to 40 contestants consisting of the first 20 girls and 20 boys who apply. Any additional applicants will be placed on a waiting list to be entered into the contest if an opening becomes available. If no openings occur, the application fee of $50.00 will be refunded. There will be no other refunds of entry fees unless the pageant is canceled. Children or grandchildren of current Cherry Blossom Festival or Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful Commission staff or Board of Directors are not allowed to participate.
