In 2012-13 your child’s class teacher will be Mrs K. Taylor.
Mrs Taylor is new to Hurst Hill this year having been
appointed as our Assistant Head Teacher. Mrs Taylor
comes to us from Petershill Primary School where she has
an impressive track record of raising standards,
particularly in KS2 SATs. Mrs Taylor is also now our
SENCO. On Thursday afternoons and Fridays the class will
be taught by Mrs Mills so that Mrs Taylor can fulfil her
leadership responsibilities. Mrs Taylor’s class is a mix of
Year 5 and Year 6 children.
Mixed Classes throughout Key Stage Two – An Important Decision
 5 teachers will be teaching across the four year groups of Key Stage Two
 By reducing Key Stage Two from 6 small classes to 5 bigger classes we
have released much needed finance to support the purchase of learning
resources, ICT equipment and additional support initiatives
 With the Acting Deputy Head Teacher in Lower Key Stage Two and the
Assistant Head Teacher in Upper Key Stage other staff will be well
supported on a daily basis with planning, teaching, assessing and raising
standards
 Timetabling teaching assistants to work across the classes will enable
more children to benefit from their additional support and will effect
more consistency between the classes
How were classes formed?
This year’s Senior Leadership Team built the class lists based on the following
piece of information:
 Children’s ages
 Children’s attainment in English and Maths
 Children’s social and emotional needs
Please detach the slip below and return it school tomorrow if there is anything
would like Mrs Taylor to know about your child before September.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Mrs Taylor,
I would like you to know that
