PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
On November 10 students, staff, parents and family members gathered in the
gym for a solemn and moving Remembrance Day Ceremony. Among the highlights
of the student-led assembly were a song by Mrs. Sutherland and her drumming
group, Division 4 singing “Where Have All The Flowers Gone?”, and a wreath
ceremony performed by Division 5 that included students sharing personal
stories of family members who have served their country. Many others were
involved helping with audio-visual equipment, assisting with gym preparations
W
and set-up, and making decorations and displays. The students’ behaviour
a
r
during the assembly was exemplary, showing a great deal of thoughtfulness
and
n
respect towards those who have sacrificed so much in the past, and those
who
i
continue to be impacted by war and conflict around the world today. It nwas
truly a community effort and a memorable Remembrance Day tribute. g

Square Dance Paul, a traditional, roots music performer and square dance caller, has brought his lively,
energetic workshops to schools throughout B.C. He will work with every class, teaching simple but lively

WANTED: SIMPLE MACHINES
Do you have broken or well-used items you no longer need, such as small motors, appliances, bicycles, or
household electronic devices? We are looking for some small mechanical or electronic items that could be
taken apart by adventurous, mechanically inclined students with the intent of learning how they work and
can be repaired. If you have something in need of repair, we may even be able to fix it! If you have
something you think we can use, please give us a call
3rd Annual Cans For a Cause Bake Sale November 26th
This Leadership led event was a huge success last year raising a large amount of nonperishable food items for the Salvation Army for their Christmas Food Drive. Bake goods will
be available on Nov. 26 for a donation of a non-perishable item – one item equals 1 treat.
Please Contact Ms. Sutherland at rsutherland@sd57.bc.ca, if you have any questions.
Let’s teach our students about generosity and the importance of helping others by
helping us help those in need by sending a non-perishable food item.
* Please be aware of the shape your non-perishable items are in, as we want to be able to give healthy,
non- damaged and unexpired food items to this food drive. Thank you!
