1 Mutual Housing Leadership Academy (MHLA) Mutual Housing Association of Greater Hartford, Inc. invites individuals who are passionate about their community to attend a series of workshops designed to build the individual, the collective voice and the leadership skills of residents. The workshops will provide opportunities to learn and practice leadership skills in a safe and supportive setting. You will learn how to: Build confidence Learn to speak and listen effectively Work with a team Create an action plan that works Lead a community meeting Develop skills for successful living and leading Practice your leadership skills within your community Workshops are offered in Community Building (CB) and Personal and Professional Development (PPD). You may apply to be part of either module 1, module 2 or both. Descriptions and course schedules for the programs are below. Module 1: Community Projects Committee Every property can have between 2-3 residents who serve on the community projects committee. This committee will focus on creating community events and activities that engage all of the residents, either through individual workshops or team supported projects. The residents on this committee must enroll and participate in the five Community Building (CB) workshops offered by the Mutual Housing Leadership Academy. The committee members will meet 2x a month for an hour and a half to plan and coordinate projects. Residents who are active committee members will have an opportunity to travel and participate in the Community Leadership Institute (CLI) which provides resident teams with $2500 towards successful completion of a community project Module 2: Resident Leadership Development Training This module is designed for residents who not only want to be involved with their community, but also want to develop themselves personally and professionally. Residents in this module must take both the Community Building (CB) workshops and the Personal and Professional Development workshops (PPD). Enrollment is limited to ten (10) residents.
