Your child has been selected to participate in the 2015 Sewanhaka Central High School District Music Festival. This year’s concert will be held on February 5th at 7:30 p.m. in the Sewanhaka High School Auditorium. Arrival times for musicians will be announced at rehearsals by the ensemble chairperson. Concert dress is required as follows: Women: Men: ALL BLACK: black dress pants or black evening length skirt with black blouse, or black knee length dress, black shoes (blouse may be long sleeved or short sleeved) black dress pants, white, long sleeved, collared shirt, long, DARK tie, black shoes We hope that you will be able to join us for this exciting event. Tickets will be sold through the music departments at each of the five high schools. A ticket sales schedule will be discussed with students at rehearsals. Tickets must be purchased in advance. There will be NO tickets sold at the door on the evening of the concert. Please review and sign the attached District Festival Contract and complete the Emergency Contact Form. Sincerely, Debra O’Connor Festival Chairperson SEWANHAKA DISTRICT MUSIC FESTIVAL CONTRACT In order to provide a valuable musical experience for all, the following rules have been established for Sewanhaka District Music Festival participants. I. General Requirements Students are required to attend all rehearsals which are listed in the attached letter. Any student missing more than 15 minutes of a rehearsal will be marked absent. Attendance issues must be discussed, in advance, with the Ensemble Chairperson. All participants must be prepared with music and a pencil. Instrumentalists are required to bring a folding music stand to each rehearsal. In addition they must bring their own instruments (or instruments that have been loaned to them by their home school) to every rehearsal and to the concert, unless other arrangements have been approved, in advance, by the Ensemble Chairperson. Rehearsals and the concert will take place at Sewanhaka High School in Floral Park. A break will be provided during each rehearsal. Students may bring snacks from home, if needed. In the event of inclement weather, there will be a rehearsal on Monday, February 9th in preparation for a concert snow date of Tuesday, February 10th. In the event of concert cancellation on Feb. 5th and on Feb. 10th the second alternate rehearsal date is Wednesday, February 11th and the second alternate concert date is Thursday, February 12th. II. Dismissal Any student who has an unexcused absence, or has missed two rehearsals, regardless of reason, or has behaved inappropriately will be dismissed from the festival. Students may also be removed if they are NOT prepared to play their music correctly. III. Concert Dress - Required as follows: Women: ALL BLACK: black dress pants or black evening length skirt with black blouse, or black knee length dress, black shoes (blouse may be long sleeved or short sleeved) Men: black dress pants, white, long sleeved, collared shirt, long, DARK tie, black shoes Students who are not dressed in the above attire will not be permitted to perform at the concert.
