Last term was very successful and we had a fabulous concert at Godmanchester Parish Church on 14th March, organized with Graham Wilson, the Mayor of Godmanchester, for his charity The Richmond Fellowship. Please put the 21st June in your diaries now, as it is our annual afternoon Riverside Concert at St Ives Riverside. The main groups taking part are the Huntingdon Concert Band and Brass Band, but we are hoping to include a number of students from our Saturday Centres and also other Wednesday ensembles. Wednesday 1st July at 6:30 will be a joint concert for all three centres at Hinchingbrooke School, in the Performing Arts Centre. This is a lovely venue and it will be very exciting to play all together. Most of the concert will be joint items but there will be room to feature some ensembles. We are always delighted to welcome new members to our Music Centres; either contact your teacher first, ring the office (01480 373500) or Lin Hetherington (07920 743136) or just turn up and talk to us on the day. Health and Safety Fire Procedure Registers are taken by staff at the start of each session in order for us to have an accurate record of who is on site. If you arrive late, please ensure you are registered. Hinchingbrooke has a continuous sounding fire alarm. If this rings you must stop your activity immediately, remain quiet and, guided by your teacher, proceed to the car park area in front of the Performing Arts Centre. No one is to remain in the room. If you are in the toilet, or between rooms, walk sensibly out of the front door and meet your group in the car park, where registers will be taken. Do not try to re-enter the school until a Centre manager gives permission. www.cambridgeshiremusic.org At St Ivo you will need to gather on the grass in front of the building. At St Neots CC you will need to gather on the grass at the back of the building near the front gate. Handling of Equipment at Hinchingbrooke All help given with handling of equipment is greatly appreciated by staff and percussionists. However no one should attempt to lift items that are too heavy for him or her. We have stand boxes with wheels, trolleys, and a sack barrow for assisting with the drum kit. We actively encourage band members to assist in setting up/packing away at rehearsals and concerts. Behaviour at all centres Consideration is the only rule we should need. Please treat the school buildings and grounds with respect, and do not run in the corridors. At Hinchingbrooke cleaners are working alongside our activities and their work should not be interrupted. Toilets should be open for you to use, both in the Lower School and the PAC, so please do not use the disabled toilet at all. If small children are present, please find an area in Lower School or outside for them to play, as no children are permitted to run about in the foyer or auditorium. Absence If you are unable to come on a Wednesday evening, or a Saturday morning, please ask parents to ring Lin Hetherington directly (07920 743136). This way we can plan our rehearsals more effectively; it also prevents unnecessary concern about missing students. Cancellation arrangements If for any reason a Wednesday evening needs to be cancelled, we will try to broadcast it on BBC Radio Cambridgeshire. In addition we hope to telephone schools and as many parents as possible. If a Saturday morning has to be cancelled we will contact as many parents as possible and leave a note on the door at the school. Thank you to all members for regular attendance and a high standard of work, and to parents for transport each week.
