Our student leaders travelled to Bathurst last Tuesday, to attend the
Grip Leadership Conference, held at the Bathurst Memorial
Entertainment Centre. Our student leaders had a fantastic day whereby
they learnt the qualities of an effective leader. This student leadership
day varies from the Young Leaders Day in Sydney as it develops the
school leadership team through a variety of fun, interactive activities.
Director of Public Schools' Visit
Mr Peter Harvey, Director of Public Schools, visited our lovely school
on Wednesday. Mr Harvey met with staff and students during his visit
and was most impressed with the beautiful tone of our school. All
students were most friendly, some even offering to give him a
shoulder massage during their lunch break! This all made for a lovely,
relaxed visit and a most impressed Director at the end of the day.
Heritage Country Schools' Cross Country
The Heritage Country Schools' Cross Country was held at Blayney
Golf Course on Thursday with our students' results as follows:
o 8/9yrs boys and girls - Alycia Cogdell - 11th
o 11yrs boys and girls - Lachlan Peterson - 9th
o 11yrs boys and girls - Nina Walters - 8/9th
Many thanks are extended to Ms McCallum for assisting on the day
with student supervision, track support and transportation.
Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea was held in the School Library on
Friday. Thank you to everyone who attended, contributed a plate of
food and donated funds to such a worthy cause. With one in two
Australians being diagnosed with cancer before the age of 85, every
dollar makes a real difference helping to fund the Cancer Council’s
vital research, prevention and support service programs.
During the SAKGP on Friday morning, the students created some
delicious dips to contribute towards the morning tea. They made:




Honey Roasted Parsnip Dip
Baba Ghannouj
Carrot and Cumin Dip
Spinach Dip
We thank Mrs Maine, our Kitchen Specialist, for her commitment to
the program, especially when Coby was at home unwell on Friday.
The Trunkey P&C Association also contributed towards the success of
the morning tea. The P&C sold Beannie Kids with 50% of the funds
raised donated directly to the Cancer Council.
Australia's Biggest Morning Tea at Trunkey PS raised $250, an
outstanding contribution once again!
The Heritage Country Schools are joining forces to assist GREENAID
through a joint fundraiser which will be launched at Blayney Public
School this Tuesday 27th May at 11:30am. Each school is asked to
sell boxes of GREENAID bandaids with the proceeds going to assist
children all over the world. We have been asked to attend the launch
on Tuesday with our Student Leaders who will be instrumental in
ensuring this fundraiser is a success. Please ensure their permission
notes are returned to school tomorrow.
Our Primary class has been invited to participate in a series of three
writing workshops hosted by the Australian Fossil and Mineral
Museum, Bathurst and local author, Paul Stafford. The three sessions
will take place over the next three Tuesdays via Video Conference in
the School Library. The students will be involved in role playing
various scenarios from the early days of Australia's colonisation from
the different viewpoints of convicts, early settlers, the governor and
The Enora People. This will be a wonderful follow-up activity from
the HSIE unit taught last term on Sydney Cove.
Semester One Assessments
Semester One assessments commence today and will be held at the
school all week. Reports and Portfolios will be sent home on Friday
20th June and 3-Way Interviews are scheduled for the week beginning
23rd June.
