PATIENT INSTRUCTIONS FOR MRI OR SPECIAL STUDIES
AND IMAGING ORDERS
IMPORTANT: Please remember to ask the MRI Imaging Facility for a CD
(Compact Disk) containing images of your MRI or special imaging study
before you leave the MRI imaging facility. You may have to wait longer
(usually about 15 minutes) for this. You will need to bring the CD with you to
the next office visit with Dr. Larson. After Dr. Larson has reviewed the MRI
images on the CD and the radiologist’s report, he will discuss with you the
diagnoses and recommendations for treatment. He will also discuss treatment
options for you.
To schedule an MRI or special imaging study, Jennifer in Dr. Larson’s front
office will send an authorization request to your insurance company. Dr.
Larson will have to wait until your insurance company authorizes the MRI.
Sometimes they do not approve it. After your insurance company has
approved it, they will notify Jennifer, and then she will call you to help
schedule the MRI. If Jennifer does not call you, then it is because the imaging
center will call you to schedule the MRI. You should check with Jennifer on a
weekly basis if you do not hear from her or the MRI facility.
If you have not heard from the MRI scheduler in one week from the date it
was ordered, please call Jennifer at 851-2673 and let her know.
