He will discuss Genetics advances from the Human Genome Project, genetics as applied to the pediatric population, common genetic syndromes, and laboratory tests to facilitate pediatric genetics. “Remote Intervention Consultation Epidemiology” Sarah Avery Long This talk will discuss the possibilities of a networked healthcare system, using technology to provide high quality remote care by connecting healthcare providers in urban and rural settings electronically. “A Tele-Ultrasound System for Resource Limited Imaging” Joshua Pyke Researchers at Dartmouth College and the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center have developed a low-cost system for performing real-time ultrasound examinations over great distances, using a satellite-based Internet connection. The system and its applications in rural and emergency medicine will be discussed. “Telemedicine and E-Health in the 21st Century” Ron Merrell Dr. Merrell will start by defining telemedicine. He will provide an explanation of technology and its limitations. He will discuss examples of present systems including Equador and Russia. He will then address challenges to future Telemedicine programs, the role of E-Health and the modern Electronic Medical Record.
