Principle- a fundamental law or doctrine.
Personality-personal and social traits
Churches that are ran according to the personality of the
Pastor are like an up and down roller coaster!
Churches that are ran according to principles of Christ are
like a smooth, steady ride!

Exodus 18:13-26
(1.)VS.13-16 Moses judged (heard the problems) of the
people from MORNING to EVENING.
-Moses listened to the people BY HIMSELF.
-Moses led 603,550 men out of Egypt NOT counting
the women and the children (Numbers 1:46).
#Moses TRIED to give all the people his undivided
attention because HE CARED about ALL of them.
#Pastors ought CARE for ALL the people; but they
can’t TAKE CARE of all the people.
#Just because one can’t TAKE CARE of all your
concerns doesn’t mean they don’t CARE about
you.

(2.)VS.17-18 Jethro, the father in-law of Moses, tells him
that what he’s doing is going to WEAR HIM DOWN.
-Moses is listening to ALL the people or as many as
he could.
-I can imagine the people bragging about how much
of a caring and compassionate leader they had
who gives us all his undivided attention.
#The people didn’t know they were killing
Moses.
#WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN HELPING OTHERS
HURTS YOU?
#YOU CAN’T BE THERE FOR EVERYBODY!

(3.)VS.19-20 Jethro tells Moses to take the people’s
concerns to God (prayer) and to teach the people the ways
of God.
-Everybody’s problem was IMPORTANT(valuable) to them.
-When Moses tried to hear all the people, it took him
away from the URGENT things that he had to do (PRAYER
& TEACHING).
#SOME THINGS ARE IMPORTANT BUT NOT URGENT!
#We must set our priorities (plan our day) according to
what’s IMPORTANT AND URGENT!

(4.)VS.21-23 Jethro tells Moses to get a TEAM OF PEOPLE to
help him.
-Michael Jordan never won a championship until he
learned how to pass the ball (USE HIS TEAM).
-Our church will never blossom to what God wants us to
be until THE CONGREGATION ALLOWS THE PASTOR TO
DELEGATE!
#ONE MAN (PASTOR) CANNOT DO IT ALL.
*How do you think the Israelites felt who were used
to going to Moses and all of the sudden had to go to
someone else?
*ALL LEADERSHIP MUST BE RESPECTED; NOT JUST THE
PASTOR!

(5.)WHAT KIND OF PEOPLE DO WE NEED ON THE TEAM?
-VS.21 …able men, such as fear God, men of truth,
hating covetousness.
(A.)People who know & operate in their ABILITIES.
(B.)People who FEAR GOD
-If we Respect God, we wouldn’t do certain things.
(C.)People who TELL THE TRUTH!
-If I’m not dealing directly with people as the
Pastor, I don’t need people who twist stories to keep
themselves out of trouble at the expense of God’s
people.
(D.)People who aren’t COVETOUS.
-Covetous people start their own church within the
church.
