Chest, Abdomen, Back

Extra Points: Chest and Abdomen
Wei-Shang (EX—CA1)
• Location: On the upper abdomen or also
named epigastrium, 2 cun above the navel, 4
cun lateral to the Xiawan(CV10).
Indication: Digestive Diseases: gastrospasm,
gastroptosis and indigestion, etc.
Methods: Puncture perpendicularly or
subcutaneously 2-3 cun, Moxibustion is
applicable.
Qi-Zhong-Si-Bian(EX—CA2)
• Location: On the middle part of the abdomen, 1
cun respectively lateral to up, lower, left and right
middle of the navel which includes Shuifen(CV9)
above the navel and Yinjiao(CV7) below the navel
which are acupoints of the Conception Vessel.
Indication: Digestive Diseases: gastro-spasm,
hyperactive bowel sounds, acute and chronic
gastroenteritis, dilatation of stomach, indigestion.
Others: epilepsia, etc.
San-Jiao-Jiu (EX—CA3)
• Location: Use the distance between the
patient’s mouth corner make a triangle, put
one angle in the center of the navel, the rest
two angles below the navel are the points .
Indication: Gastro-spasm, hiccups, pain
surrounding the navel, infertility.
Zhi-xie(Ex-CA4)
• Location: Below the abdomen, in the
midpoint of the line connecting with Shenque
(CV8) and margo superior linked to the pubis.
Indication: Genito-urinary system diseases:
retention of urine, urinary infection, enuresis,
etc.
Others: acute and chronic gastroenteritis,
gastroptosis, etc.
Zigong(EX-CA5)
• Location: On the lower abdomen,4 cun below
the centre of the umbilicus and 3 cun lateral
to Zhongji(RN3).
Indications: Prolapse of uterus, irregular
menstruation.
Method: Puncture perpendicularly 0.8-1.2
inches. Moxibustion is applicable.
Ti-Tuo (EX-CA6)
• Location: 3 Cun below the navel, 4 Cun lateral
to the front midline.
• Indications: Prolapse of uterus, irregular
menstruation; Prolapse of kidneys, low
abdominal pain.
Method: Puncture perpendicularly 0.8-1.2
Cun. Moxibustion is applicable.
Li-Niao-Xue (EX-CA7)
• Location: On the front midline, 2.5 Cun
directly below the navel.
• Indication: UTI, hemeuria, diarrhea,
abdominal pain, prolapse of uterus, prolapse
of stomach.
• Method: Puncture perpendicularly 0.5-1 Cun,
Moxibustion is applicable.
Qi-Men (EX-CA8)
• Location: 3 Cun below the navel, 3 Cun lateral
to the front midline.
• Indication: Infertility, heavy menstruation, low
abdominal pain, retention of urine, post
partum lochiorrhea.
• Method: Puncture perpendicularly 0.5-1 Cun,
Moxibustion is applicable.
Extra Points:Back Region
Xue-ya-dian (EX—B1)
• Location: On the neck, between the sixth and
seventh cervical spine, make 2 cun both left
and right side.
Indication: Hypertension, hypotension,
cervical spondylopathy, stiff neck, etc.
Method: Puncture perpendicularly 0.5-1 Cun,
Moxibustion is applicable.
Ding-chuan(EX-B2)
• Location: On the back, below the spinous
process of the 7th cervical vertebra, 0.5 cun
lateral to the posterior midline.
Indications: Asthma, cough, stiffness of the
nape, pain in the shoulder and back, rubella.
Method: Puncture perpendicularly 0.5-0.8
Cun. Moxibustion is applicable.
Ju-que-shu (EX—B3)
• Location: On the back, in the depression between
the fourth and fifth spinous process of thoracic
vertebra.
Indication: Respiratory system disorders:
bronchitis, bronchial asthma, etc.
Neurological and psychiatric system disorders:
intercostal neuralgia, insomnia.
Others: angina pectoris.
• Method: Puncture perpendicularly 0.5-1 Cun.
Moxibustion is applicable.
Jie-ji (EX—B4)
• Location: On the back, in the depression
below the twelfth spinous process of thoracic
vertebra.
Indication: Digestive system disorders: gastrospasm, chronic enteritis, dysentery.
Others: archoptoma, epilepsia, strain of
lumbar muscles, etc.
• Method: Puncture perpendicularly 0.5-1 Cun.
Moxibustion is applicable.
Xia-ji-shu(EX-B5)
• Location: On the middine of the low back,
below the spinous process of the third lumbar
vertebra.
Indications: Lumbago, abdominal pain,
diarrhea, dysuria, enuresis, aching pain in the
lower extremities.
• Method: Puncture perpendicularly 0.5-1 Cun.
Moxibustion is applicable.
Shi-qi-zhui(EX-B6)
• Location: On the low back and on the
posterior midline, below the spinous process
of the 5th lumbar vertebra.
Indications: Lumbago, pain in the lower
extremities, flaccidity of the lower
extremity(ies), irregular menstruation,
dysmenorrheal.
Method: Puncture perpendicularly 0.8-1.2
Cun. Moxibustion is applicable.
Yao-qi(EX-B7)
• Location: On the low back, 2 cun directly
above the tip of the coccyx, in the depression
between the sacral horns.
Indications: Epilepsy, headache, insomnia,
constipation.
Method: Puncture subcutaneously upward
1.0-2.0 Cun. Moxibustion is applicable.
Yao-yan(EX-B8)
• Location: On the low back, below the spinous
process of the 4th lumbar vertebra, in the
depression 3.5 cun lateral to the posterior
midline.
Indications: Lumbago, frequency of
micturition, irregular menstruation, weakness
with weight loss.
Method: puncture perpendicularly 0.8-1.2
Cun. Moxibustion is applicable.
Wei-Guan-Xia-Shu(EX-B8)
• Location: On the back, below the spinous
process of the 8th thoracic vertebra, 1.5 cun
lateral to the posterior midline.
Indications: Diabetes ,vomiting ,abdominal
pain, pain in the chest and hypochondriac
region.
Method: Puncture obliquely 0.5-0.7 Cun.
Moxibustion is applicable.
Pi-Gen(EX-B9)
• Location: On the low back, below the spinous
process of the 1st lumbar vertebra, 3.5 cun
lateral to the posterior midline.
Indications: Mass in the abdomen.
Method: Puncture perpendicularly 0.5-0.8
Cun. Moxibustion is applicable.
(Hua-Tuo)-Jia-Ji(EX-B10)
• Location: On the back and low back, 17 points on
each side, below the spinous processes from the
1st thoracic to the 5th lumbar vertebrae, 0.5 cun
lateral to the posterior midline.
Indications: Points on the upper portion of the
chest can be used to treat diseases of the heart
and lung and diseases in the upper limbs; points
on the lower portion of the chest,
gastrointestinal diseases; points on the lumbar
region, diseases in the lumbar and abdominal
regions and disorders in the lower extremities.
• Method: Puncture perpendicularly 0.3-0.5
