He obtained his MBBS from Bangalore University in India in 2000 and MRCP in 2005. He undertook specialty training in Radiology in Leeds and West Yorkshire in the United Kingdom, followed by a neuroradiology fellowship in London. In addition to his clinical responsibilities, he is also an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University College London Hospital and the Associate Editor for the Postgraduate Medical Journal (BMJ group). Dr Mankad has coauthored 5 textbooks and book chapters and has published extensively on adult and paediatric neuro-imaging. He also has special interest in management, he holds a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt from the British Quality Foundation and a Post Graduate Diploma in Hospital and Health Care Management from the Symbiosis Centre of Health Care in India. Professor Walter Kucharczyk, MD, FRCPC Professor Walter Kucharczyk is a neuroradiologist from the University of Toronto, where he graduated from the Faculty of Medicine in 1979. He undertook specialty training in Radiology in Toronto, followed by subspecialty training in Neuroradiology and Magnetic Resonance Imaging at the University of California, San Francisco from 1984 to 1986. He returned to a faculty position at the University of Toronto in 1986, and became the inaugural Director of Magnetic Resonance Imaging at what was then the Toronto General Hospital. He has remained Director of MRI ever since. At the University, he became Professor and Chair of the Department of Medical Imaging in 1991, a position he held until 2007. He is PastPresident of the International Society of Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM), the largest research and education group in the world (5000 members) devoted to developing and teaching magnetic resonance to doctors and scientists. He has been awarded several grants from Technology Ontario (the predecessor of ORDCF), the Canadian Foundation for Innovation, the Ontario Research and Development Challenge Fund (CFI), and most recently, the Leading Edge Fund of CFI. His research interests are vast and include the design and development of a magnetic resonance imaging system for image guidance of minimally invasive methods of diagnosis and treatment, the development of magnetic resonance thermography for real-time image monitoring of thermal coagulation of human cancers, correlation of MRI monitored thermal lesions with histology and patient outcome and assessment of tissue perfusion after thermal therapy using MRI and US contrast agents.
