Vehicles that operate must have plates & current sticker • Graffiti is removed Violation Violation -“Order” Issued Compliance Obtained Property Standards Property Standards Minimum standards to ensure that property owners maintain their properties for health & safety of occupants & public Interior • • • • Doors & Windows Floors, Walls Plumbing & Electrical Stairs Exterior • • • • Exterior Walls & Roof Balconies, Porches & Stairs Fences, Retaining Walls Garages/Sheds Right of Entry - Planning Act Municipal Law Enforcement Officers may enter on land at any reasonable time and in accordance with the conditions set out in Sec 435 & 437 of the Municipal Act for purpose of carrying out inspections Process For Enforcement • MLEO investigates to determine violation(s) • If no violation(s) found the file is closed • If a violation(s) found the MLEO will post or mail the Order depending on the violation • The Order lists the violations(s) & explains what needs to be done to correct the problem & gives a compliance date for the work to be completed Order To Comply Non Compliance of An Order The MLEO can use various tools to resolve the violation which may include; • A Fee For Inspection cost added to the property taxes • Tickets or Court Action • Contractor complete the required work, the costs added to the property taxes Project Compliance Now Permanent Proactive Council approved Project Compliance as a permanent proactive enforcement program • 4 full-time Officers • 1 full-time clerk for admin support Licensing of Rental Units tabled & referred to a subcommittee for further review Questions ????
