Corp. worker digging near a pipeline at the
Capital Terminal facility, ruptured a high
pressure pipeline with an excavator.

• Clean up of over 56,000-gal of No. 2 Low

OIL SPILL RESPONSES
Capital Terminal Oil Spill
• November 14th – December 11th 2011
• Location: Detroit, MI
• Agency Supported: EPA Region V
• EPA discovered over 500 chemical drums,
tanks, & compressed gas containers, many
of which were not labeled, unsecure, and
leaking in an old specialty chemical facility
• Many of the chemicals were ignitable,
corrosive, or toxic
• AST provided:

•The barge rolled over and partly capsized
adjacent to the eastern span of the Pell Bridge
with an estimated 3900-gal of diesel onboard.
