EQ: How does language shape meaning?
Warm- Up: Tone Up
Whimsical: playful and fanciful, imaginative in a strange, pleasing way.
Dejected: sad and dispirited; depressed
Baffled: to be totally bewildered or perplexed; distressingly confused
Surely this couldn’t be right, but here he was, in a bed that was not his own
and lying next to a woman that looked almost exactly like his wife only much

Procedure:
1. Choose your best example of a journal from The Once
and Future King.
2. Decide which rhetorical device you will write about.
Possible choices: imagery, figurative language, paradox,
allusion, irony, repetition, etc.
3. On a sheet of loose leaf paper set you paper up in the
correct format:
4. Attach your new analysis to the 10 journal entries for
this text. If you have no other entries, turn it in alone.

Tone-Up:

Disgruntled: displeased and discontented; to be grouchy and pouty
Indifferent: without interest or concern; to not care one way or the other;
apathetic
Moralistic: characterized by or expressive of a narrow moral attitude;
judgmental; eager to stand in judgment of others, especially those whose
values do not exactly match your own.
If you get a tattoo, it’s okay by me, as long as you don’t mind moving out
of my house and paying the bill for treating the infection you’ll incur from
using the same needle that’s been used on drug addicts, biker chicks, and
who knows what.
