Facing the Storm

We would be delighted if you would join us for the 6th Burson-Marsteller
Crisis Club in the heart of Amsterdam.
This year’s Crisis Club will explore the similarities as well as differences
between how public institutions and
corporations prepare for crisis. A crisis simulation will provide an
opportunity to put the day’s lessons to the test and share best practice.
Key note #1: Alasdair Nicolson, head of Crisis Management Shell. Alasdair
will share with us how Shell developed their advanced crisis management
and communication protocols.
Key note #2: Wouter Jong, crisis consultant for the Dutch Association of
Mayors. Wouter will share recent crisis lessons involving public leaders
and their relevance for businesses and other stakeholders.
Our day will end with a canal cruise and dinner in beautiful Amsterdam.

6th Annual Burson-Marsteller Crisis Club 2014
Jeremy Galbraith
Jeremy Galbraith is the CEO of Burson-Marsteller Europe, Middle
East and Africa, Global Chief Strategy Officer, and a member of
Burson-Marsteller’s Global Leadership Team. He was previously
the CEO of Burson-Marsteller in Brussels from 2000 to 2007,
having first joined Burson-Marsteller in 1995 to head up the UK
Public Affairs Practice. Prior to this he had been Deputy Managing Director of a
leading Westminster political consultancy and a Director of its sister company in
Brussels. He began his career working in the House of Commons for a senior
Conservative member of the Trade and Industry Select Committee.
Alasdair Nicolson
Alasdair Nicolson is Head of Crisis Management at Royal Dutch
Shell. After successful externally-facing business and business
services roles he is using operational experience, passion and
influence to drive a global change management programme
that is making a visible impact. Alasdair Nicolson has lived and
worked in the Netherlands, India, Nigeria, Poland, Bulgaria as well as the UK.
George Godsal
George Godsal is the Chair of Burson-Marsteller’s EMEA Corporate & Crisis Practice. George specialises in corporate and B2B
international communications programmes. He has advised a
wide range of organisations in multiple sectors on corporate
reputation strategy, campaign implementation and issues
management. He has significant issues management experience from handling
communications around a kidnap situation in South Sudan, to the repatriation of
300,000 tourists to the UK following the administration of a holiday company. He
has lived and worked in the United Kingdom, United States and East Africa.
Wouter Jong
Wouter Jong is a crisis consultant for the Dutch Association of
Mayors. He advises mayors during and in the aftermath of crises.
His work focuses on developing and supporting their communications strategy taking into account their legislative powers and
the public impact of incidents, crises and disasters.
Wouter Kurpershoek
The Crisis Simuation will be hosted by the CrisisTheater which is
an initiative of Wouter Kurpershoek. For over 26 years he was
one of the leading news reporters for Dutch National Television.
He covered all major national and international crises that made
world headlines. With CrisisTheater he is determined to bridge
the communications gap between decision makers and the media during a crisis.
Having covered more than 3000 stories during his career he certainly knows what
he is talking about…
