Typhoon Haiyan
On Friday, November 8, 2013,
one of the worst typhoons ever
slammed into the Philippines
Haiyan left a wide path of
destruction and debris in its wake
14 million
people are affected
Over 4 million people
are displaced
1.1 million houses
are damaged
World Renew is responding
through its local partner,
the Christian Reformed Church
of the Philippines (CRCP)
As a first phase, World Renew and
the CRCP provided food
assistance, potable water,
temporary shelter, and hygiene
supplies to 4,000 families
As a second phase, World Renew
is providing:

Temporary shelters (tents and tarps)
Single-burner stoves and fuel
Kitchen kits
Hygiene items
Sleeping mats
Mosquito nets
Cash-for-work community projects
In response to the immense
emotional needs, World Renew is
also providing trauma counseling
This is being carried out in seven
municipalities on three islands:
• Samar Island ~ Guiuan municipality,
Eastern Samar province
• Panay Island ~ Estancia municipality,
Iloilo province
• Leyte Island ~ Palo municipality,
Leyte province
Three sets of International Relief
Managers (IRMs) are on site
coordinating World Renew’s
response:
